The Alliance and several other housing, environmental, health and vulnerable peoples’ organisations have written to the Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment to urge him to promote regulation requiring minimum standards of energy
performance in private housing.
The signatories stressed that regulation should be a central part of the Scottish Government’s efforts to tackle fuel poverty and climate emissions and therefore urge the Scottish Government to set minimum energy efficiency standards for private housing. Incentives and encouragement alone have not proved to be sufficient to deliver the pace and scale of change required.
